Fenek Monastery – Laser Scanning and Detailed 3D Modeling

High-precision digital documentation of a historic monastery, combining laser scanning and detailed 3D modeling.

Fenek Monastery is a culturally and historically significant religious complex, representing an important part of Serbia’s architectural and spiritual heritage.

As part of this project, we carried out a comprehensive laser scanning survey of the monastery, followed by the creation of a highly detailed 3D model of the existing condition.

Using advanced scanning technology, we captured precise data on the monastery’s geometry, architectural details, and structural elements. This data served as the foundation for developing an accurate 3D model that faithfully represents the current state of the complex.

The resulting digital model provides valuable insight into the monastery’s structure and layout, supporting documentation, analysis, restoration planning, and future conservation efforts. By translating the physical structure into a reliable digital format, the project enables informed decision-making while respecting the historical value of the site.

The scanning and modeling process included:

  • High-resolution laser scanning of the monastery complex
  • Detailed capture of architectural and structural elements
  • Creation of an accurate and detailed 3D model of the existing condition
  • Digital documentation suitable for restoration and conservation planning

Project deliverables

  • A detailed 3D model representing the monastery’s current state
  • Digital documentation for analysis, presentation, and future design work
  • A reliable basis for restoration, maintenance, and heritage preservation

This project demonstrates how precise surveying and 3D modeling technologies can support the preservation of cultural heritage, providing a long-term digital record and a practical tool for future architectural and conservation activities.
